Back to the Future

Irina Werning with her Award Winning Global photographic project “Back to the Future”. This series celebrates cultural differences across 32 countries, and across seven decades, by re-enacting old family photos. The result is a body of work that follows people for example, from Ghana, to Iceland, Argentina, to India, showing vastly different cultural aesthetics while at the same time revealing a unified curiosity, irreverent humour and sense of the ordinary, from the projects participants. because its’ humanistic intent is accessible to everyone. It is both fun and fascinating, and everyone from the most technically discerning photographer to the intellectual, to the layperson and children will be fascinated examining this expansive body of work on global families.
