Foto Freo is a celebration of photography that is underpinned by critical narratives about the psychosocial, economic and environmental landscape that we inhabit. Foto Freo believes in freedom of expression, diversity and creative risk taking. The festival recognises that photography is a medium defined by creative advancements in technology and artistry and respects and celebrates the historic and future incarnations that the medium incorporates. Foto Freo aims to be conscientiously inclusive. We are committed to supporting and highlighting the work of photographers across the spectrum of all identities and abilities, and acknowledge, with deep respect, the sovereignty of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples as the original custodians of Australia.

Foto Freo festival would like to acknowledge the Whadjuk people of the Noongar nation as the Traditional Owners of the Walyalup area, the lands on which the festival stands today, and pay our respects to the Whadjuk people Elders both past and present
